Delete your account

You can delete your Hōbi account at any time, in the app or by emailing us. Hōbi is made by Storytailor Inc. Deleting your account is permanent.

1. Open Hōbi and tap your profile picture at the top of Home to open Settings.
2. Tap Manage account.
3. Tap Delete my account.
4. Tap Permanently delete account, then Delete forever to confirm.

Your account is deleted right away, and we email a confirmation to the address on your account. Photos are cleared from storage shortly after, usually within an hour.

Want to keep a copy first? Go to Settings → Manage account → Export my data before you delete.

If you signed up with Apple, the iPhone app asks you to confirm with Apple before it deletes your account. The Android app can’t do that step, so it can’t delete an account created with Apple. Use the iPhone app, or email us as described below.

If you no longer have the app or can’t sign in, email support@storytailor.com from the email address on your Hōbi account, with the subject “Delete my Hōbi account”.

We’ll reply within two business days to confirm the account is yours. Once it’s confirmed, we delete your account within 7 days.

Deleting your account also deletes every Circle you own (the ones you created, and any that were handed to you), for everyone in it: the child’s profile, moments, Portraits, Promises, Needs, comments, claps, invites, and the photos in that Circle.

If someone else should keep the Circle going, make them the owner first. In Care Circle, open their profile and tap Transfer ownership.

• Your profile, your sign-in details and passkeys, and your sign-in sessions on every device.
• Your devices’ notification registrations, so Hōbi stops sending you notifications.
• Your Storytailor connection, if you made one. Hōbi also asks Storytailor to cancel the access you gave it.
• Every Circle you own, as described above.
• Your place in other people’s Circles. Those Circles keep going without you.
• What you added to other people’s Circles: your moments, your comments, your claps, the Promises you made, and the Needs you posted.
• Your photos. When you delete your account, the photos you added are removed, along with the photos in the Circles you own.

These stay with other people’s Circles:

• Portraits already written for a Circle you don’t own stay with that Circle. They can still mention you by name and include words from your moments.
• If you said you’d handle a Need, edited the care notes, or approved or reviewed something in someone else’s Circle, that item stays with the Circle, but your name is removed from it.
• Invitations other people sent you stay with their Circle and can include the name and email address they entered for you.

When a moment is deleted, or a photo is removed from a moment, the photo is hidden from the Circle, but a copy can remain in storage. For your own moments, that copy is removed when you delete your account. A photo taken out of a moment while editing it, or from a moment that didn’t finish saving, can remain in storage after your account is deleted.

Records of how the app was used stay, with the link to your account removed.

We keep these records for up to 12 months after they were created, then delete them automatically:

• Feedback you sent us from the app: your message, your device model, system version, app version, and any diagnostic log, plus the copy emailed to our support team, which includes your name and email address.
• Security and account records, such as sign-in link requests, your account change history, and email delivery records. These can include your email address and the birthday you gave when you signed up or changed it, and, if you opened or clicked one of our emails, the network address and browser details our email provider reported.

Deleted information can remain in our encrypted database backups until those backups expire, within 7 days. We don’t restore it into Hōbi. Photos in storage are not part of those backups.
